Photodestruction Cross Sections for Mass-selected Ion Clusters: (co,);:
نویسنده
چکیده
The relative photodestruction cross sections for CO* cluster ions, (CO2): (2 =Z II G lo), are reported at 1064,644 and 532 nm. The ion clusters are synthesized by nucleation to the monomer ion in a supersonic expansion, and the parent ions are mass selected both before and after photodissociation with a tandem time-of-fli$r mass specuometer. Models for the observed cluster size dependence of the cross sections are discussed.

Cluster cross sections from pickup measurements: are the established methods consistent?
Pickup of several molecules, H(2)O, HBr, and CH(3)OH, and Ar atoms on free Ar(N) clusters has been investigated in a molecular beam experiment. The pickup cross sections of the clusters with known mean sizes, Ñ≈ 150 and 260 were measured by two independent methods: (i) the cluster beam velocity decrease due to the momentum transfer of the picked up molecules to the clusters, and (ii) Poisson di...
متن کاملChirality and packing in small proline clusters.
The chiral composition of amino acid clusters may be related to the origin of chirality in biological systems. Here, we use ion mobility/mass spectrometry techniques to investigate the gas phase structures of singly charged proline clusters containing two to six monomers. Using deuterated L-proline (L(D7)) and different electrospray solution compositions varying from enantiopure (50:50 L:L(D7))...
متن کاملAttachment of Water and Alcohol Molecules onto Water and Alcohol Clusters.
Absolute attachment cross sections of single molecules M (M = water, ethanol, or methanol) onto positively charged mass-selected clusters XnH(+) (X = water, ethanol, or methanol) were measured for cluster sizes ranging from tens to hundreds of molecules and center-of-mass collision energies varying from 0.1 to ∼1 eV. The attachment cross sections, which converge as expected toward geometrical c...
متن کاملA database of 660 peptide ion cross sections: use of intrinsic size parameters for bona fide predictions of cross sections.
An ion trap/ion mobility/time-of-flight mass spectrometry technique has been used to measure collision cross sections for 660 peptide ions generated by tryptic digestion of 34 common proteins. Measured cross sections have been compiled into a database that contains peptide molecular weight and sequence information. The database is used to generate average intrinsic contributions to cross sectio...
متن کاملNanocalorimetry in mass spectrometry: a route to understanding ion and electron solvation.
A gaseous nanocalorimetry approach is used to investigate effects of hydration and ion identity on the energy resulting from ion-electron recombination. Capture of a thermally generated electron by a hydrated multivalent ion results in either loss of a H atom accompanied by water loss or exclusively loss of water. The energy resulting from electron capture by the precursor is obtained from the ...
